KeyBank reinvests in APP

PRESQUE ISLE – KeyBank NA has joined with other Aroostook County private-sector champions by recommitting to the Aroostook Partnership for Progress, the region’s most comprehensive economic development initiative. KeyBank Senior Vice President Steven Gagnon recently announced that KeyBank – with branches located from Madawaska to Houlton – is pleased to pledge $25,000 to APP.

“Key understands the importance of the APP and its role in economic development in the County. We do a lot of business here, our employees live and work here and we have been pleased to see the success of the APP over the last four years,” Gagnon said. “The work that the APP is doing has helped create a stronger business environment for our bank and our clients. KeyBank’s five-year pledge of support is an investment in all of us.”
KeyBank’s contribution is the latest of a new round of private sector re-investments in APP, a private-public partnership created in 2004 to collaboratively stimulate the economy of Aroostook County. APP commends KeyBank for its long-time dedication to northern Maine.
“Businesses such as KeyBank, working in partnership with others, have helped foster and nurture a focused regional approach to economic development,” said Larry Shaw, chair of the APP Board of Directors. “Because of investments such as these, the Partnership has been successful in attracting jobs and investment to Aroostook County.”
Housed at the Caribou headquarters of the Northern Maine Development Commission, APP has been involved in projects that resulted in the retention of approximately 700 jobs, the creation of approximately 1,000 additional jobs and investment of approximately $140 million. APP works with its partners to market the region nationally and internationally, to conduct regional research and to coordinate efforts to influence business and government issues that impact economic growth and development. The Partnership’s priorities include economic development marketing, regional leadership, public policy and business intelligence.
KeyBank is one of Maine’s largest providers of bank-based financial services and has one of the largest statewide networks of branches and ATMs. KeyBank also invests in its communities through charitable contributions, volunteerism and civic leadership. Its civic efforts continue to be recognized: Parent company KeyCorp has earned its sixth consecutive “outstanding” rating for community reinvestment from the U.S., made DiversityInc’s Top 50 in four of the past five years and also was selected by the magazine as one of its “most noteworthy companies.”  To learn more about KeyBank services, visit www.key.com.
