Houlton theatre to feature local filmmaker

HOULTON — The local movie theatre will be screening the full-length motion picture “amnesia,” produced by Aroostook County native John W. Bosley, during its tour throughout Maine this month.
Eighty percent of the film, “amnesia” was shot within Maine, while the remainder was shot in Michigan and Colorado.
Several State Representatives and Senators have confirmed that they are planning to attend one of the screenings at various theaters throughout the state. One lawmaker, Rep. Kimberley Rosen (R-Bucksport) is planning on driving up to Houlton to attend the July 11 screening at the Temple Theatre.
“amnesia” is the story of a man, Allan Carter, who wakes up with amnesia. He doesn’t know what world he has woken up to, but does know that he is looking for — his wife and son. Allan finds himself being shot at, hiding in caves and secret tunnels, and being chased through the forest while constantly searching for the truth.
Even though the film will be touring throughout Maine, Bosley wanted the film to be screened within “The County” first. Prior to setting up the tour, Bosley requested that the co-chair of the Maine Film Commission and his former video productions teacher, Brenda Jepson of New Sweden, view the film.
“‘amnesia’ is gripping from the first moment to the last,” Jepson said. “I would encourage anyone to watch this film with its fast pacing, spellbinding scenes and compelling story.”
Andrew Doph, the male supporting role, played several characters in the film and also helped to produce the film. He is originally from Seattle but moved to Maine to help create the film.
“I don’t compare it to any other movie. ‘amnesia’ is ‘amnesia,’” Doph explained. “I think it is important for everyone to see the movie. If you want to see something different, something unique, see the movie. It’s an original idea.”
After the film was completely shot, Bosley relocated to Michigan, to support his wife’s family during a time of transition. The director, a Presque Isle High School graduate, is traveling back to Maine in order to make the tour a more personal experience for people in Aroostook County.
“We are really appreciative of the owner of the Temple Theatre, Mike Hurley, for his willingness to be the first theater owner to jump on board with the film tour,” Bosley stated. “I really wanted to show the film in Houlton and he went above and beyond what we had expected.”
“We are asking people to ‘Join The Revolution,’” Jamie Anderson, one of the publicists for J.B. Movies, stated. “What we mean by that is simple: go to the Web site, see the previews, come to the premiere, and invite others. This is a chance for ‘The County’ to see a project that took a former resident more than half a decade to complete.”
Ticket costs for “amnesia” is based on local theater pricing. However, a $1 printable coupon is available on the J.B. Movies and Visual Arts Web site at www.jbmovies.com.
Film showings, followed by panel discussions with Bosley are scheduled at the Temple Theatre at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 11 and again on Saturday, July 12 at 3:30 p.m.
Copies of “amnesia” will be available for purchase after each showing. For more information about the film visit www.jbmovies.com.
