HOULTON — The Northern Maine Fair in Presque Isle has a ton of different events taking place to attract the interests of people near and far and this year it’s hopefully going to attract some southern Aroostook business folks as well.
The Southern Aroostook Development Corporation and the Greater Houlton Chamber of Commerce are asking local businesses to take part in the fair’s Southern Aroostook Day to be held on Sunday, July 27. Jon McLaughlin, executive director of SADC and Lori Weston, executive director of the Chamber say the event is just one more way to attract shoppers to the southern Aroostook businesses.
“They just started doing this last year and they try to bring people into the area that they feature,” said McLaughlin. “Last year it was very successful with the Saint John Valley Day. This year they want to do a Southern Aroostook Day.”
On Sunday, July 27, businesses wishing to take part will have their business banner and information posted on site at the fair. McLaughlin said the information will be displayed alongside the craft vendors.
“This gives them a little bit of publicity,” said McLaughlin. “The benefit is to get your name out to the people in the county who don’t know who you are and to honor the southern Aroostook area.”
And the other benefit is that participation is free.
McLaughlin said interested parties can contact him at 521-0157 or Weston at 532-4216 by Thursday, July 17.
The Presque Isle Northern Maine Fair runs from Friday, July 25 to Saturday, Aug. 2.
