Ronald Wallace Haney, Jr., 46, born November 29, 1961, and died peacefully on the morning of Thursday, July 10th, 2008.
A devoted partner, caring grandfather, father, son and a incomparable friend, Ron had a dramatic impact on all of those around him. He was an extraodinarily giving, warm and friendly individual with a true appreciation of the outdoors which was seen in his passion for his family camp on the Machias River in Garfield, ME. He was a person who gave so completely of himself that no one who knew him ever wanted for anything, whether it be companionship, understanding or a kind word.
He was predeceased in 1995 by his mother, Elisabeth, who he loved very much. His birth father died in 1966, and Ron was raised by his step-father who survives him, Ronald Jackson of Casco, whom Ron always saw as a Dad, and his wife, Gail.
A graduate of Orange Park High School in Jacksonville, FL, Ron spent much of his adult life working at Bath Iron Works. After receiving his degree in plumbing and heating from Northern Maine Community College in Presque Isle, Ron went to work in that field.
He is survived by three sisters, Julie York and her husband Bob of Raymond, Heidi Murrell and her husband, Mike of LaPlata, MO, and Shelly Jackson of Casco. He is also survived by two brothers, Phillip Jackson and his wife, Lucy of Casco, and Andrew Jackson and his wife, Michelle of Raymond, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his immediate family, Ron is survived by his lifeline partner, Debbie Mountain Haines, originally of Mapleton. Debbie and Ron shared a rare bond that is not seen in many relationships. Ron was devoted to Debbie utterly, and cared for her so completely that she spend every moment with Ron assured of his love for her. Ron’s tenderness, care and devotion towards Debbie was so deep so as to cause Ron to immediately become part of Debbie’s family. In this, Ron is survived by a sister-in-law, Donna Charrette and her husband, Pat of Ashland, and a brother-in-law, Dana Mountain and his wife, Shirley of Sydney. Also, two step-sons, Shaun Haines and his wife, Gabby of Portland, and Troy Haines and his partner, Shawna of Mapleton, as well as a step-daughter, Bethany Haines and her partner Larry White of Buxton, and two grandchildren, Amber White and Troy Haines. Playing with his grandson “little” Troy was one of the greatest joys of Ron’s life. Ron was happiest when sharing experiences with all of those he loved, but especially when in the arms of his loving partner Debbie. All of those who he has left behind will miss him dearly, and knowing a human being so loving and giving has been one of the greatest honors of all our lives.
Per Ron’s wishes, in lieu of flowers, donations has been made to a scholarship fund for his grandson Troy Michael Haines, contributions can be sent to Julie H. York, 60B Martin Heights, Raymond, ME 04071.
A celebration of Ron’s life will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at Hall Funeral Home, 165 Quaker Ridge Rd., Casco, ME 04015.
