The family and nearly 75 friends and well-wishers enjoyed a light buffet, capped – with a two-layer anniversary cake beautifully decorated by granddaughter, Karen Bossie of  Winslow.
The talented kitchen crew which was led by Whittier’s niece, Elaine Hersey Gross of North Carolina, made sure everyone had plenty to eat and still had time to visit and reminisce with the anniversary couple.
The Whittiers were married on May 8, 1943.
They have spent all 65 years of their married life on the Whittier Family Farm located on the Old Washburn Road.
