Ashland man to be deployed overseas

On June 23, Scott Libby of Ashland left for military training in Mississippi. Once his training is complete, he will be deployed overseas for approximately six months. Scott is very dedicated to serving his country and has done so several times since the beginning of the war in Iraq. Please keep Scott and his family in your thoughts during his time away.

Cub Scouts Climb Hedgehog
Several Ashland Cub Scouts gathered at Hedgehog in June as a “wrap-up” to their yearlong scouting activities. After climbing the mountain with parents and Scout leaders, the boys gathered to receive and be recognized for the many badges that they had earned throughout the year. An informal “crossing-over” ceremony was also held to mark Malcolm Milligan’s transition from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. The young Scouts each joined segments of rope together forming one continuous circle, which Malcolm then stepped through, symbolizing his movement onto the next level of scouting. To finish off the day, everyone enjoyed a supper of hot dogs, salads, chips, cookies and roasted marshmallows.
