Playoff quarterfinals
Savings Bank of Maine 8, Police 5
The Police had a three-run comeback in the fifth and sixth innings of their July 14 National Division quarterfinal, but Savings Bank held on for the win. With two outs in the sixth inning and bases loaded, the Police tried to steal home, but catcher Jacob Burby passed the ball to pitcher Alex Michaud to tag out the runner and end the game.

Nick Matlock tripled twice and doubled for Savings Bank. Brayden Burby doubled, and Michaud and Caleb Willett hit two singles each. Tyler Raymond singled for Savings Bank.
Alex Murchison, Kody Theriault, Austin Griffeth and Michael Boone all had singles for the Police.
VFW 5, Woodland Eagles 4
VFW held on to a one-point lead to move on to the semifinals on July 14. Both Dylan Berkoski and Sean Sadler singled and doubled to lead the offense. Jake Perreault doubled, and Branden Tweed singled. Berkoski pitched nine strikeouts in the win.
Matt Milliard struck out 12 batters pitching for the Eagles, and hit a triple and single in the contest. Hunter Milliard, Sara Beaudoin and Shawn Doody all singled.

Playoff semifinals
Shop n’ Save 18, VFW 1
Shop n’ Save scored early and often including an eight-run fourth inning on their way to an 18-1 victory over VFW in the National Division semifinals last Wednesday. Michael Marquis and Alex Losieniecki both scored in the first inning and second inning. Jared Keaton drove the ball to the rightfield for an in-the-park home run in the second inning, and Kameron Manter brought the score to 6-0.
In the fourth, Marquis, Losieniecki, Adam Collins, Manter, Keaton, Colby Holdsworth, Dustin Demerchant and Kaitlyn Nadeau all made their way around the bases to home plate. In the bottom of the fifth, Keaton, Ben Ezz, Holdsworth and Colton Conley scored on singles from Conley, Collins, Manter and Losieniecki.
Marquis doubled, Losieniecki doubled, Manter doubled and Collins tripled for SNS. Perrault doubled for VFW. Berkoski singled in the fourth and scored the sole run for VFW.
In defensive action, Collins threw out a runner trying to steal second. VFW centerfielder Perreault made a long throw to home to stop a runner attempting to turn a triple into a home run.
S.W. Collins 4, Savings Bank of Maine 2
Savings Bank of Maine kept a one-run lead into the fifth inning of the National Division semifinal last Wednesday. However, S.W. Collins put three runners safely across home in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead and move on to the final. Matt Curry pitched the final inning and struck out all three hitters to end the game.
Curry had two hits including a double, and Dayne Savage also hit a double. Jeremy Miller had two hits while Zach Wright, Rebecca McDougal, Nate Wyman and Ricky Perry had one hit each. Savage pitched the first five innings with nine strikeouts.
Matlock doubled twice for Savings Bank. Michaud and B. Burby struck out six hitters.
Maine Bag 2, North Stars 1
Key Bank 8, Sleepers 3
Kaleb Corriveau pitched four innings to earn the win and a spot in the American Division final game for Key Bank. Corriveau struck out eight batters while walking six. Dustin Bouchard and Nick Frost pitched in relief allowing no runs in the final two innings. Matt Frost notched three RBIs and belted a home run in the second inning for Key Bank offense. Bouchard added a single. Scott McCrossin, Ryan Washington, Alex Scott, M. Frost and Bouchard made several key offensive plays on the infield.
Breen Blackstone and Sara Huston combined pitching for eight strikeouts and six walks for Sleepers. Blackstone had two hits, and Brendan Cyr struck a single.
National Division final
Shop n’ Save 10, S.W. Collins 7
Friday’s National Division championship game could’ve gone to either team as S.W. Collins tied the game at seven in the bottom of the sixth. However, Shop n’ Save would put three runners across home plate in the top of the seventh and hold off the S.W. Collins’ runners for the win.
SNS started off hot in the top of the first when Losieniecki, Collins and Manter all singled to load the bases. Keaton drove his first pitch over the fence for a grand slam. S.W. Collins answered in the bottom of the inning. Wright doubled to score Donovan Savage, and made it to home when McDougal singled.
SNS forged on in the second. Marquis tripled to drive home Conley, and later scored himself thanks to Losieniecki.
S.W. Collins held SNS back in the top of the third and added two of their own runs. Curry doubled to help Dayne Savage home, and scored on an errant pick off attempt to third base.
SNS scored one run in the fourth when Marquis tripled, but S.W. Collins fought back with a two-run single by Wyman. In the bottom of the sixth, Dayne Savage singled to score Taylor Miller and tie the game. SNS centerfielder Ezzy caught a high fly ball to end the inning with bases loaded.
In the game-winning inning, Axios Gerakaris, Marquis and Losieniecki were all on base when Collins drew a walk for one run. Manter notched and RBI, and Losieniecki scored on a post ball.
Curry recorded 12 strikeouts with only one walk over six innings. For SNS, Keaton threw 11 strikeouts in four innings, and Losieniecki pitched in relief to preserve the win.
American Division final
Key Bank 11, Maine Bag 5
Maine Bag’s Cody Herbert slammed a three-run homer in the second inning to make the score 5-0 Maine Bag in the second inning of the American Division final, However, Key Bank pounded out 11 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning capped off by a grand slam from M. Frost to seal the win for Key Bank. M. Frost and Corriveau both singled in the fifth.
M. Frost picked up the pitching win, and Bouchard pitched in relief making the diving stop on a hard ground ball to end the game.
All-Star game addition
In the 9- and 10-year-old All-Star game, Gabe Massey registered a hit and scored a run for the National League.
A championship series game will be played if necessary on Thursday, July 24: Key Bank at Shop n’ Save.
