FORT FAIRFIELD – Fort Fairfield hosted several sporting events as part of the annual Potato Blossom Festival celebrations last week.
Softball events
In the junior girls’ softball tournament on July 15, seven teams from Aroostook County competed for the championship title.
Fort Fairfield defeated Washburn in the championship game, 22-5. Fort Fairfield took out Madawaska and Caribou on the way to the final.
Also participating were Presque Isle, Houlton and Ashland.
Basketball events
Six teams participated in the three-on-three double elimination basketball tournament on July 15. The team of Ben Rosser, Caleb Rosser, Jarryd Rossignol and Gerald McKenna emerged as tournament champions after defeating Keith Edgecomb, John Cooley and Kyle Cunningham.
Swim meet results
Caribou swam to first place in the swim meet held on July 16. Presque Isle took second followed by Fort Kent in third.

Thirteen and 14: Erica Hemphill of Presque Isle and Darren Newbegin of Caribou.
Fifteen to 18: Karrie Brawn of Presque Isle and Zac Lavalle of Caribou.
