Kiwanis awards donation

    The Caribou Kiwanis Club recently presented Ezra Duplissie-Cyr with a donation to help support his trip to the Exploration Senior Program, he will be attending at Yale University in New Haven,  Conn.

    Duplissie-Cyr was granted a scholarship through the Anchor Capital Advisors. After being nominated along with two other grade nine students from Caribou High School and completing the necessary application and essay, Duplissie-Cyr was granted a scholarship to attend the three-week program. This scholarship will cover the tuition, as well as the room and board portion of the program.
    While at Yale, Duplissie-Cyr will have the opportunity to take various courses, participate in extra-curricular activities and travel to other Ivy League universities including Harvard University, MIT, Brown University and the University of Providence.
    As part of his visit at the Caribou Kiwanis Club meeting, Duplissie-Cyr had the opportunity to share information regarding the Explo program, further describing the courses he has selected.
    He also discussed the many activities he will take part in while participating in the three-week program meant for highly motivated students with proven leadership abilities..
    Duplissie-Cyr also told to the Kiwanians that he was looking forward to the opportunity, as it will also allow him to work alongside students from 40 other countries.
    He will be one of three Aroostook County students attending the program. Other local students are from Van Buren District Secondary School and from Presque Isle High School.
    Duplissie-Cyr looks forward to returning to the Kiwanis Club to share his experiences in depth, upon completion of the Exploration Senior Program in August.
