The Easton Jr./Sr. High School girls’ soccer coach wants all the girls to know that there will be a soccer practice on Tuesday, July 29, from 6-8 p.m. and also on Wednesday, July 30, and Friday, Aug. 1, from 7-9 p.m. Some won’t read this so pass the word, please.
Some of the winners of the Car Show at Easton Field Days were: Nina Trask with her 2000 red Mustang in the 2000 to 2004 category and her husband, John Trask, came in third in the 1960’s category with his ‘68 GTO. The best in the 1960’s category went to Bonnie Fulsom, of Mapleton, and she also walked off with the Best in Show for the day with her 1964 Chevy Impala.
Visits
Margery Ames Neely of Oswego, N.Y., spent several days visiting with her mother, Edna Ames, at her camp on Grand Lake and with her after she came back to her apartment at Leisure Gardens in Presque Isle. She also was able to spend time with her brother, Heyward Ames, and his wife, Dean, here in Easton. Margery’s daughter came a little later for a few days’ visit with all of them.
Brian Bolster drove to Easton from his home in Gouldsboro, N.C., to spend nearly a week visiting with family and friends. He stayed with friends Roger and Lorraine Wilcox most of the time while here and was able to take in the Easton Field Days’ events.
Barbara and Larry Barnes, of Lyman, are enjoying their camping vacation at Parkhurst Siding in Presque Isle this week. A good friend, Edna Trask, drove from her home in New Hampshire to the Barnes’ home and came to Easton with them. She will spend several days visiting her sister-in-law, Helen King, and family. The Barnes will also visit with family while they are here.
25th reunion
The Class of 1983 gathered at the home of Julie Flewelling Sotomayor on Kinney Hill one day during the Easton Field Days’ celebration for a cookout. Those attending were: Tammey Dixon White, of Easton; Penny Doak Anderson, of New Sweden; Storer DeMerchant, of Caribou; Karen Corriveau Bradley, of Mumford, N.Y.; Kim Grant Lapointe, of Presque Isle; Vonda Lawrence Lavway, of Presque Isle; Dawn Beaton Quelle, of Coralville, Iowa; Raymond Kennedy, of Easton; Patti Brown Niedorowski, of Hampden; Beverly Johnston Chasse, of Fort Fairfield; Donna Burgess Delong, of Westfield; and the hostess.
Rec Center calendar
Wednesday, July 23 – Field Trip to UMPI to do the high/low ropes course and climbing wall. The bus will depart from the hall at 9 a.m. and return at 3 p.m. The cost is $7. Tee-ball from 6-7 p.m. on the field behind the high school. Junior High Basketball Camp from 6-8 p.m. at the elementary school gym.
Thursday, July 24 – Day Camp from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the hall. Today’s theme will be a “fiesta.” Hiking on Haystack and ice cream. Please send money for your child’s ice cream, 12:30-3 p.m. Children who are going hiking may stay through until the bus leaves for hiking.
Friday, July 25 – Swimming lessons departing at 8:35 a.m. and returning by 10:15 a.m.
Monday, July 28 – Day Camp from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the hall. Today’s theme will be “sleepover.” Breakfast and lunch will be served. Playgroup will be offered from 12:15-1:30 p.m. at the hall for those in kindergarten and younger. Swimming at Fort Fairfield Outdoor Pool. The bus will leave from the hall at 1:45 p.m. and return by 4:15 p.m. Children must be able to swim to attend this trip or have an adult swim with them. Little Bears Basketball Camp from 6-7:30 p.m. at the elementary school gym for children completed grade 1 through 5th grade.
Tuesday, July 29 – Day Camp today from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the hall. Today we will be going to the fair to visit the exhibits and animals. “Free Time” from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. at the hall. Swimming at Presque Isle Outdoor Pool. The bus will leave from the hall at 1:45 p.m. and return by 4:15 p.m. Children must be able to swim to attend this trip or have an adult swim with them. Little Bears Basketball Camp from 6-7:30 p.m. at the elementary school.
Wednesday, July 30 – Field trip to the Alpaca Farm and the Mars Hill Pool. A picnic lunch will be served and we will go out for ice cream. The bus will depart from the hall at 9:30 a.m. and return at 3 p.m. Tee-ball from 6-7 p.m. on the field behind the high school. Little Bears Basketball Camp from 6-7:30 p.m. at the elementary school gym.
