Residents of the Maine Veterans Home were recently treated to a day of fishing at Ruel Flannery’s Fishery at 99 Dorsey Road in Fort Fairfield. Pictured is resident Fred Becker, showing his just-caught trout. Behind him are, from left, Jim Saucier, member of the maintenance personnel at the Veterans’ home, and Ruel Flannery, owner of the fishery.
The residents spent the day fishing and enjoying the outdoor weather.
The grand total of trout caught reached 25, most of them being about a foot long, with a couple fish that reached 14 inches in length.
The residents had a great time with the sport and with getting those wiggly little worms to stay on their hooks.
The staff of the Veterans Home wishes to extend their thanks to Ruel and Gloria Flannery for donating their time, help and fish for the resident’s enjoyment.
It was a great gift to all the residents who had been looking forward to the trip for weeks.
