Stacyville Strawberry Jam Festival delivers variety of food, family fun

    STACYVILLE — The Srawberry Jam Festival was held over the weekend with many activities and lots of participants. Among those winning awards during the various Festival competitions were:

    Art Show winners included: Age 5 and under: Hope Qualey, first; Dominick Poisson, second; and Maggie Allen, third place. 6-8 year olds: RiKayla Pelkey, first place; Haley Stubbs, second; and Erin Lake, third. 9-12 year olds: Kendra Patterson, first place; Allison Noyes, second; and Alyssa Stubbs, third.

    Folks gathered under the awning for a pig roast supper. The wild weather didn’t deter most from enjoying a good meal and good company.

    Lucy, the sow, weighing in at 470 pounds, walks the parade route before wallowing in the cool mud. Lucy is pregnant and enjoyed the attention from kids and adults at the Strawberry Jam Festival. Led by Amanda Mullens, Lucy took honorable mention for her efforts.
