Watershed meeting scheduled Aug. 11

    PRESQUE ISLE – The Central Aroostook Soil and Water Conservation District, in cooperation with FB Environmental Associates and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, will be hosting a public meeting from 1-3 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 11, at the Central Aroostook SWCD offices on Main St.  (located behind the China Pearl), to discuss the combined Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) report for the Prestile Stream and Christina Reservoir watersheds. Watershed residents, town and city officials, and landowners of the towns of Fort Fairfield, Easton, Westfield, Mars Hill and the city of Presque Isle, are invited to learn about the TMDL process, to discuss future plans to reduce nutrient and sediment loading to these water bodies, and to restore and maintain acceptable water quality conditions.
      A Public Review draft of these reports will soon be available at Maine DEP Northern Maine Regional offices in Presque Isle (1235 Central Drive, Skyway Park) or at the Central Maine DEP offices in Augusta (Ray Building, Hospital Street- Route 9, Land & Water Bureau) or online: www.maine.gov/dep/blwq/comment.htm.
