Caribou ATV Corner

At the recent Caribou ATV Club meeting, members discussed the following topics.
    The Lagasse Connector Trail
    • The entire trail needs to have permanent stake signs put in place.
    • Public ways will need to be painted with directional arrows as ATV accesses.     • The second section of Lagasse and Duncan Wharf Bridge has been completed by the primary welder, Brian Duncan.
    • The ramp at the end of the Patten Street and Fort Street Bridge has been planked and a safety rail needs to be placed at the sides.
    • The railroad trestle crossing Route 89 needs to have eight telephone poles placed at both side entrances for protection of ATV riders and a safety chain link fence needs to be placed at the top of the trestle.
    • No areas of the Lagasse Connector Trail are open to riders at this time and the trail will not be opened until trail work has been completed.
The Beaver Dam area on the Bouchard/Guerrette Trail is being addressed by the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department and will hopefully resolve the washout problem on this trail.
Please ride with caution on the Limestone Connector Trail because of major washouts in some areas. They will be repaired as soon as possible.
Trailmaster Lagasse encourages any interested volunteers willing to help work on the trails to call him at 227-3918 or be at the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department storage building located by the Caribou Public Works Department on Saturday mornings at 8 a.m. Volunteers are needed to finish trail work and put up signs.
