HOULTON — Officials with the Houlton Water Company (HWC) have regretfully announced the retirement of Richard, Rick, Holmes effective July 31, 2008.
Holmes has been an employee at the water company for 27 years, beginning in 1981 as an operator at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Homes’ intelligence and work ethic were recognized and by 1999 he was named Senior Plant Operator. As Senior Operator, he was second in line for responsibility of entire plant maintenance and operations.
“Rick's superior mechanical ability, perseverance, loyalty and easy demeanor will be missed by all HWC personnel,” said HWC General Manager John Clark.
A retirement party in Holmes' honor took place the evening of July 14, 2008, at the Courtyard Café in Houlton. Approximately 25 people attended consisting of HWC personnel, Rick's wife Sara, children Victoria and Noah and brother Peter and wife Belinda.
At the end of the evening, a gift of appreciation was presented to Holmes and congratulations from all those who attended.
