Scenes from this year’s Patten Pioneer Days

PATTEN — The following results were reported by organizers of recently completed Patten Pioneer Days festivities:
Image Image The Aug. 5 Teddy Bear Picnic saw 14 children in attendance while winners included: Smallest teddy bear, Autumn McGraw; Best Dressed teddy bear, Cole Chickering; Oldest teddy bear, Makenna Landry; Most Original teddy bear, Bradley Hotham; and Biggest teddy bear, Emmalee Landry.
Image    The Home Run Derby saw 10 people in attendance. Winner in first round of 17 and under -Andy Kay, with 13 out of 25, won the first round of age 17 and under while David McGraw, with 10 out of 25, won the first round of the age 18 and up category. Winner of second round with everyone was Andy Kay with 9 out of 15 while the longest home run was 306 feet by Ken Lane.Image
   The Patten Pioneer Pageant was held Aug. 6 with the following winners: Little Miss Patten Pioneer Days (tie) Nikita Keim and Brittney Kaelin; Junior Miss Patten Pioneer Days, Halle Cole; and Miss Patten Pioneer Days, Georgia Landry.
 Twenty-five children were in attendance for the Aug. 7 Field Day activities while 62 children took part in the popular Pig Scramble.Image
    The Children's Parade was held Aug. 8 with winning entry a covered wagon float featuring Madison Landry, Hannah Landry, Makenna Landry and Emmalee Landry. Bradley Hotham with Sophie (fishing buddies) won the Pet Parade. The Bike Parade was won by Emily Grace Nason as a butterfly keeper.
    Saturday featured the Big Parade with Best Overall Float sponsored by Katahdin Valley Health Center. Other winners included: Best Decorated first place, Stetson Memorial Methodist Church; Best Decorated second place, Patten Pentecostal Church; Most Original first place, Ellis Family Market; and Most Original second place, Boy Scouts of America (outdoors wildlife).Image
    The Guitar Hero Competition was also held Saturday, Aug. 9 with the following champions: easy 15 and under, Robbie Lillis; medium 15 and under, Garth Bates; hard 15 and under, Jeff Ogiba; expert 15 and under, DJ Steeves; medium 16 and up, Lisa Craig; and expert 16 and up, Devin Rudge.Image
    David McGraw's team won the Pioneer Days softball tournament.
