A FAMILY AFFAIR — The Taylor family met at the recent Quilt Show to see the Eastern Star quilt that was made in 1937. There are two stars on the quilt that were embroidered with the names of their grandmother, Rachel, their parents Fred and Daisy and their own names. Two of the Taylor boys, Holland and Freeman have passed away. Admiring the historic quilt are Della Taylor, wife of the late Holland Taylor of Houlton; Barbara Fitzpatrick of Millinocket; Betty Harvey of Monticello; Russell of Ludlow; and Arlean Mooradian of Huntingtown, Md. They remembered their mother working on quilts when they were children. They said that the quilt frame was always in the living room and when their mother had a quilt to work on they were not able to play with their toys in that room. They were all thrilled to see this special quilt that had been tucked away for many years. This quilt is part of the Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum collection in Littleton and was donated to the museum by the family of the late Otis Putnam.
