Novak, Stephen Frank, 67, Ashland; June 1, 2008. His ashes were laid to rest at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Cairbou, August 22, 2008.
ASHLAND – Stephen Frank Novak took flight on June 1, 2008, heaven bound. His send off was peaceful with his wife by his side. In addition to Emily, Steve leaves his eight children, his mother, and two sisters; 23 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Steven as born July 14, 1941, to Stanley and LaRue (Nelson) Novak in Queens, New York. He was a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a decorated Captain in the Air Force where he worked as an electronic warfare officer. He flew over 100 missions during the Vietnam Conflict. In civilian life, Stephen was an avid gardener sharing his love of this pursuit with his family who continue to nurture growing things in tribute to him. Trees Steve planted continue to bear fruit as do his numerous good works for church and community. His family carries on his legacy of public service to their communities. Stephen married Emily Clark on June 1, 2002 and lived in Ashland with her and her four children for the last 6 years. He raised eight children together with his wife of 36 years, Elaine E. (Wiener) Novak in Fort Fairfield. Family and friends enjoyed several months of happy times and shared numerous stories of his love for them, life and country. We are all the better for having known him and having him share a part of his life with us. His ashes were interred at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Caribou, August 22, 2008.
