Woodland’s Karen Page, second from left, received the Maine Veterans’ Homes Activities Employee of the Year Award during a ceremony held in Augusta, from Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Stephen Nichols left, chairman of the board of trustees, and Kelley Kash, far right, CEO. MVH-Caribou Administrator Mark McKenna second from right received the perpetual plaque recognizing Page’s achievements that will be on display at the Caribou Veterans’ Home.

“It’s great to see Karen recognized in this way,” said Mark McKenna, the Maine Veterans’ Home – Caribou Administrator. “Her dedication and commitment to serving our veterans has long been noticed by the Caribou Home, but this is a great accomplishment that recognizes her service by the entire organization.”
Page began her career with MVH – Caribou in 2004, providing care for those suffering from early stages of Alzheimer’s and dementia. During this time she continually demonstrated the warm and caring nature that has been a cornerstone of the Maine Veterans’ Homes’ philosophy.
As a result of her keen interest in her residents’ activities, Page began to pursue a role in the Home’s activities office. In August of last year Page became the activities assistant, where her creativity and caring nature has benefited the entire Home. Page is currently pursuing her certification as an activities director.
MVH has five additional facilities located in Augusta, Bangor, Machias, Scarborough and South Paris.  Operating as a public, not-for-profit organization, MVH works closely with state and federal agencies, veterans’ service organizations, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Veterans Administration, and local communities to provide quality services to veterans and eligible family members.
