PRESQUE ISLE – Coaching staff for the 2008 Presque Isle boys’ varsity soccer team will remain malleable with their field alignment and starting roster this season to search out what best fits the new squad.

The resilience of the Wildcats will be tested after the loss of nine seniors to graduation.
Team captains Parker Hovey, Scott Wilson and Ethan Hill led the 2007 Wildcats to their seventh consecutive showing in the playoffs. PIHS ended the season at 12-3-1 after losing in overtime of their semifinal match.
The 2008 squad will be led by seniors Russ Mortland in the midfield, Evan Richards on defense and Warren Zubrick in the forward position.
“The rest of the team will compete to fill other roles and starting positions,” said head coach Scott Young.
Also playing for the Wildcats this fall are seniors Eric Morris and Lucas Mathers; juniors Nathaniel Postell, Drew Long, Matt Chasse, Nate Ackerson and Dillon Kingsbury; sophomores Josh Allen, Brandon Bonville, Carter Melendez-Christensen, Oliver Zubrick and Andrew Legassie; and freshmen Isaac Lajoie, and Wilder York.
According to Young, the team is eager to begin the regular season under their new leadership after winning the Presque Isle pre-season round-robin tournament.
“We will try to finish in the top four in Class B and host some playoff games. We will work all season to position ourselves so that we will be able to compete for the championship,” said Young.
Young is assisted in coaching by Tim McCue. The Wildcats are managed by senior Dusty Graham and sophomores Stephen Goulet and Mike Picard.
