PRESQUE ISLE – An event that provided an array of opportunities for women of Aroostook County at the Forum last year will once again take place on Saturday, Sept. 6 and Sunday, Sept. 7, as the Citadel’s Women’s Expo returns to the Star City. “Last year’s Women’s Expo was such a hit, we are doing it again. In addition to all the free giveaways from our generous members – of which we have more than two dozen – we are going to have a cash cube,” said Wendy Landes, business developer and financial officer with the Caribou Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
Tickets are being sold now to win a chance to get in the cube (prize booth).
“Twenty-eight lucky folks will get a chance to get in and win – every half hour of the two-day event,” said Landes.
Total cube prizes, according to Landes, are worth over $3,000.
“They range form gas coupons valued at $75 each, lobster dinners, three designer purses valued at over $350, cinema therapy baskets, sunglasses, cookbooks, a chocolate basket, a ‘home spa’ basket, a Zappos Gift Certificate of $100, jewelry, Willow Tree figurines, Vera Bradley accessories, cash — $500 total, as well as many more fabulous prizes,” she said.
Tickets are $10 each.
“The drawing will be held Sept. 3 at noon, so winners can plan their Women’s Expo visit accordingly,” said Landes.
Only 600 tickets will be sold for the 28 spots.
“So your odds are good,” Landes said. “Items are on display in our offices on Sweden St. in Caribou. You can get a ticket from any of us or at any of F.A. Peabody’s locations throughout Aroostook County.”
Last year, the event featured a variety of booths geared toward women’s interests, from health care and healthy foods to sporting activities. This year the event will feature over 50 exhibits by businesses and organizations throughout Maine and New Brunswick, including fashion shows, self-care, home décor and renovation, finances, lectures, demonstrations and more. On hand last year and returning Sept. 6 and 7 will be syndicated radio show personalities Bob Lacey and Sheri Lynch – this year joined by Lamar, the “People’s Movie Critic.”
Expo hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 6, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 7. The event is sponsored, in part, by Cary Medical Center. For more information, stop in or call 498-6156.
“You won’t want to miss out,” said Landes. “See you at the Expo.”
