MARS HILL – A fire heavily damaged a local home at 30 Church St. around noontime on Thursday, Aug. 28.
The Mars Hill Fire Department responded. On arrival, the crew saw smoke and fire being emitted from the second story of the structure. Firefighters were able to bring the blaze, which started on the second floor, under control a short time later. The home is owned by Mike and Heidi Cyr. No one was home at the time of the fire. Fire Chief Arthur London said the home was insured.
“The second story is totally gone. I don’t know what the homeowners plan to do,” said London.
The Fire Marshall’s Office has determined the cause of the fire was “accidental.”
Bridgewater Fire Department provided mutual aid. No injuries were reported as the result of the fire.
