LIFE-SAVING GEAR — The Health Services Foundation recently donated an EZ-IO drill system which enables the provider to insert an IV port when other means of access are difficult or impossible. Attending the equipment presentation were, from left, Joseph Levesque, EMT Intermediate; Elizabeth Dulin, Health Services Foundation director; Patti Hartin, EMT Basic and IFAS assistant director; and John Schmidt, EMT Basic.
The Health Services Foundation recently made a grant to the Island Falls Ambulance Service for the purchase of the EZ- IO system. The EZ-IO drill system enables the provider to insert an IV port directly into the intraosseous space, essentially the shinbone, when other means of access are difficult or impossible.
“Quick and safe intravenous access in emergency situations will save lives and provide our staff with the best technology available to treat patients in this rural setting. The Foundation has always been generous to our service in providing funding for the important equipment that would otherwise not be affordable to the department. When considering charitable donations, please consider the Health Services Foundation. They are doing wonderful work for the Southern Aroostook Area” said Patti Hartin, Island Falls Ambulance Service assistant director.
“The Foundation is always pleased to provide grant funding to those who contribute so much to our communities. The Island Falls Ambulance Service is very deserving given the rural nature of our communities as they consistently perform at top-notch efficiency going ‘above and beyond’ to save lives and give great comfort, assurance during difficult situations. As always, we have to thank our donors who consistently support all our efforts, as we would not be able to do all that we do if it were not for them,” said Elizabeth Dulin Foundation executive director.
