A regal celebration of a magnitude beyond description was held Aug. 16 in the Park at Patten in honor of Iola Giles, longtime resident. She was celebrating her 90th birthday.
She was dressed beautifully in pink with her snow-white hair. wearing a sparkling tiara. She was our “Queen for the Day.”
There were approximately 300 guests attending, including her seven children and spouses. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren were there. Many extended family members and friends representing many different states as well as the faithful locals were there to share in this very special day.
The food and desserts served buffet-style were plenteous and delicious. There was a three-tier birthday cake decorated beautifully with white frosting and pink flowers.
There also was a band with different singing groups entertaining the crowd throughout the celebration.
Accolades were made about Mrs. Giles and the amazing legacy she has displayed and has made those who come behind her who they are today.
“Grateful thanks go out to all who attended for the gifts, cards and love that was shown to this very special lady. God bless each one,” said Mrs. Giles siblings, Jan Greely and Lois Green.
