Pullers head to Clinton this week

    The Northern Penobscot Pullers pullers will be in Clinton on Thursday, September 4 and again in Clinton on Saturday, September 6.

    The convoy of pickup pullers was on the road twice last week. On Wednesday, August 27, the destination was Windsor for their fair. The grandstands were packed and the crowd was ready.
    The standings in Windsor were: 2×4 Modified 6,200 A: first, Lee Wood of Oakfield in Half Pint; second, Charlie Greene of Exeter, RI in Mr. G II and third, Barry Dow of Houlton in the Intimidator.
    4×4 Modified: first, Rick Morse in Ridge Runner.
    2×4 Super Street: first, Dow in Intimidator; second, Luke Tash of Chester in Dirt Digger and third, Bradd Giguere of Benton in Unleashed.
    4×4 Super Stock 5,800 pounds: first, Darrell Castonguay in Family Affair; second, Ryan Madden of Greenbush in Blue Demon and third, Steve Haines in Black Gold.
    Pro Stock Diesel: first, Carl Watson of Smyrna; second, Malcolm McGraw of Levant and third, Jeff Emery of Windsor.
    2×4 Super Stock: first, Tash in Dirt Digger; second, Dow in the Intimidator and third, Giguere in Unleashed.
    4×4 Super Stock: first, Haines in Black Gold; second, Hampy Carter in the Instigator and third, Jere Humphrey in White Lightning.
    2×4 Modified: first, Wood in Half Pint; second, Green in Mr. G II and third, Dow in the Intimidator.
    4×4 Modified: first, Andy Abbott in Red  Neck Cadillac and second, Morse in Ridge Runner.
        On Saturday, August 30, the pulling crew headed for Springfield for the holiday weekend pulls. The audience was not disappointed, as the pullers put on an amazing show of horsepower and expertise as the drivers maneuvered the vehicles down the track.  
    This pull attracted some of the political crowd as Senator Roger Sherman visited the announcer’s booth and Senator Elizabeth Snyder also made a show and participated in the Women’s Open Pull.
        The standings in Springfield are: Two-wheel drive Super Stock: first, Tash of Chester in Dirt Digger; second, Pete Mercier of Princeton in Sneaky Pete and third, Dow in the Intimidator.

    Half Ton Street Stock 6,000 pounds: first, Adam Powers of Howland; second, Sheldon Stevens of Hermon and third, Kyle O’Brian of Springfield.
    Two-wheel drive Modified 6,200 pounds: first, Teddy Bil of Fredericton, N.B.; second, Darren Taylor of Centerville, N.B. in Perdy in Pink and third, Woods of Oakfield in Half Pint.
    Four-wheel drive Modified 6,200 pounds: first, Eldon Pelletier of Millinocket in Pelletier’s Pride and second, Travis Voisine of Chester in Big Bad Red.
    Three-quarter Ton Street Stock 7,000 pounds: first, Tyler Tash of Chester; second, Travis Worster of Kingman and third, Kelly Wilcox of Presque Isle.
    Two-wheel drive Super Stock 6,200 pounds: first, Tash of Chester in Dirt Digger; second, Dow of Houlton in the Intimidator and third, Blaine Clay of Lincoln in Mr. Goodwrench.

    Womans’ Open: first, Tiffany Clay of Lincoln; second, Holly Worster of Kingman and third, Britney Wheaton of Millinocket.

    4×4 Modified: first, Pelletier in Pelletier’s Pride.
    Pro Stock Diesel 8,000 pounds: first, McGraw of Levant; second, Brian Bouchard of Eagle Lake and third, Jeff Pelletier of Millinocket.    
    The bright sunny skies shown on the NPPA in Dover-Foxcroft, as a large crowd gathered on the hillsides to watch and cheer on the pullers.
    A special addition was added to this pull as the crowd sang a hearty happy birthday to John Woods, who has been pulling pickups for close to 30 years. He and his son, Lee, have built a two-wheel drive modified pickup that they compete with. Woods and his wife, Linda, and their family faithfully support the pulling club.
