PRESQUE ISLE – Cookies and Cuts, with the help of Loretta Martinez and the Merrick Pet Care Company and the many visitors who checked out the business’s booth at this year’s Northern Maine Fair, is pleased to announce the results of a fund-raiser to benefit the Central Aroostook Humane Society.
“With oil prices driving the price of gas and food prices eating up the family budget, visitors to the Cookies and Cuts booth still found it in their hearts – and wallets – to give to others in need,” said Rick Bruce, co-owner of Cookies and Cuts. “The others I am referring to are our anima friends that are living at the Central Aroostook Humane Society.”
The business enjoyed what Bruce called “a tremendous week at the fair.”
“We handed out free samples and information about a wide variety of foods that are carried in the store. On Monday, the Merrick representative, Loretta Martinez, was on hand to talk about the Merrick products and company history,” said Bruce, noting Merrick also donated the sausage treats and the raffle prizes that helped raise money for the shelter.
“We raised $150 for the shelter and the pallet of food was worth $700,” said Bruce. “We recently presented a check for that amount to Betsy Hallett, general manager of the shelter.”
