The Caribou Parks and Recreation Department in partnership with the Aroostook Area Agency on Aging is pleased to announce that they will be offering a chronic disease self management program entitled Living Well beginning in November. The program, under the direction of Cara Miller a certified instructor for AAAA, is a program designed for anyone 60 years-of-age and older living with a chronic health condition or multiple chronic health conditions. The purpose of the program is to develop skills to manage chronic health conditions with the expected outcomes of significant improvements in general health, health distress, fatigue, disability as well as social activities. The classes are fun, interactive and help participants build their confidence to manage their health and maintain active quality lives. Family members, friends or caregivers are also encouraged to attend.
Pre-registration is required for the program which will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center beginning November 4, 2008. There will be a fee of $1 per class.
