Fund-raising efforts continue for injured two-year-old

A bean hole bean supper and Family Day will be held Saturday, Sept. 20 at the Ashland Fish and Game Club to benefit the medical care of two-year-old Devin Connor Whitmore, who was critically injured in an accident at his home Sept. 2.

The fun starts at 2 p.m., while the supper begins at 5 p.m.
Northwoods Saddle Expeditions will sponsor wagon rides, face painting will be done by Girl Scout Troop 241, and a music jam featuring Chet Rafford and His Friends will also be held as part of the fun.
Organizers of this past weekend’s “Community Bottle Drive” to benefit Whitmore would like to thank the volunteers that collected bottles, as well as all of those who generously contributed. Also, they would like to recognize the Carl Robert Dream Foundation for their donation to the Whitmore family in their time of need. Extra special thanks go out to Sarah Brooks, of Portage, for giving over 500 bales of hay to the Whitmores for their animals and also to the many folks that helped get the hay from the field to the barn.
Ashland Motorsports event
Looking for some entertainment this weekend? Well, the Trotting Park will be busy both days as Ashland Motorsports hosts ATV pulls at noon and truck pulls at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, and a mud run at noon Sunday, Sept. 21. Come on out for some family fun. Concessions will be available and the Scouts will be on hand to collect your returnables and keep the park looking top notch!
Eat, bid and be merry!
A fund-raising supper, auction and dance will be held Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Ashland Fish and Game Club for Robin Carney. Robin underwent heart transplant surgery this past July and is recovering slow, but sure. The donations raised from this event will help Robin and her family to be comfortable this winter. The spaghetti supper will begin at 4 p.m., followed by the auction. A large variety of items will be up for bid including a cord of wood, Polaris jackets for boys – size 14-16, Sirius Satellite radios, and lumber. The dance, featuring old time rock and roll tunes, will finish out the night. B.Y.O.B. and come and have a great time!
Play Park construction helpers needed
The Ashland Playground Committee is pleased to announce that the “Just 4 Kids Family Play Park” will be erected Saturday, Oct. 4 at 8 a.m. at the Ashland Library and will continue into the evening (and possibly Sunday) until completion. We need volunteer builders to make our dream a reality! No experience necessary, just your willingness to help out with this worthwhile cause. Coffee, donuts and lemonade will be served in the morning. Please call Andrea White at 435-6363 to volunteer your services. There is a long list of hand tools needed, as well, so please inquire as to what you can bring. See you there!
