    BRISTOL, CT – Christine A. Gibbons, 47, died on Friday, September 19, 2008, at the Hospital of Central CT after a long battle with cancer. Born in Houlton, Maine, on Dec. 15, 1960, the daughter of the late Richard Gonya and Madeline Day of Biddeford, Maine.     She moved to the Hartford area 30 years ago and lived in Glastonbury and East Hartford before moving to Bristol a short time ago. Christine was employed at the Marlborough Health Care Center.
    Survivors include her husband, Paul J. Gibbons of Glastonbury; her son, Kyle C. Gibbons of East Hartford; her mother, Madeline J. Day of Biddeford, Me.; her step-mother, Doris Gonya of Bristol; two Sisters, Lynne Gonya of St. Agatha, Me. and Cheryl Sawyer and brother-in-law Carl of Houlton, Me.; two brothers, Dean Gonya and his wife Karen of Pa. and Stacey Gonya of Bristol Ct.; two step-brothers, Randy of Texas and Andrew MacDonald Of Bristol; four step-sisters, Lori, Teresa, Sandy and Karen all of Connecticut;  several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Richard Gonya Aug.12, 2005.
    Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Wednesday, 1:00 p.m., at Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. Burial will follow in the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to any cancer society or foundation of donors choice.
