The Hodgdon Hawks not only have a newly renovated gymnasium, but are proud and excited to welcome a new physical education and health teacher, Trevor Parent.
Trevor grew up in Peru, Maine, with his twin brother, Travis, who is a licensed athletic trainer employed at Lee Academy. Travis’s parents reside in Peru and he stated, “both of whom I owe a great deal to for my successes.”
Trevor and his wife, Julie Conrad, were married this past summer in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Trevor described his wife as “a beautiful, intelligent, athletic Canadian who is also a teacher in secondary education as a certified English teacher.” Trevor and Julie have a godchild, Travis Raymond Parent, Jr.
Trevor graduated from the University of Maine at Presque Isle in 2007, receiving a bachelor of science degree in physical education from the School of Human Performance and Leisure. He worked at Lee Academy in Lee, for the better part of last school year (2007-2008) and was a full-time dormitory parent and assistant coach to both boys’ and girls’ soccer teams (Girls Maine Class ‘C’ Runners-Up). Trevor has been a student teacher and substitute teacher in chemistry, physics, English, social sciences and art.
Trevor stated, “While at UMPI, I had the fortunate experience of learning from some of the best professors in the business. Collegiate students who graduate from UMPI are at an obvious advantage (experiences, facilities, location and contacts) when we come out with physical education degrees, especially when searching for teaching jobs in the Northeast.”
Trevor shared that he had the distinct honor of representing his university on the soccer field. Through his efforts on the soccer field, he received team, athletic department, conference, tournament, and national distinction awards.
Trevor stated, “beyond the athletic fields, more importantly, I was awarded the Most Outstanding Physical Education Award for my efforts in the classroom. I hope to continue to fit right in here at Hodgdon. I hate to leave anyone out when thanking people, so I’ll just say that everyone has been very inviting and encouraging. Julie and I, it seems at this point, plan to be in the area for the foreseeable future, developing as professionals within the greater Houlton community.”
So if you see Trevor in the halls or in the community, let him know how excited we are to have him at Hodgdon High School. If you want to welcome Trevor or contact teachers and staff at HHS, visit our Web page at www.msad70.net.
