To the editor:
Never before has it been as obvious that politicians are more interested in partisanship and focusing negative attention on each other than on facing the desperate issues confronting our nation. That’s why I’m voting for Senator Susan Collins. She doesn’t operate that way. When I met the Senator for the first time a couple of weeks ago, I was amazed by what a down-to-earth person she is. She refuses to run a negative campaign. She voted against Congress going on vacation during a time that critical decisions had to be made about our economy. And she hasn’t missed a vote since 1997 – she has a 100 percent voting record. How many lawmakers in our Congress can say that?
Not only is she a hard worker from Aroostook County, she brings integrity, honesty, and grace to her position — characteristics that are practically extinct in today’s government. Power is not her motivation – doing the best by her constituency is.
I would encourage voters to get out and elect Sen. Collins for another term in November. She will continue to work toward the betterment of all Americans. She’ll face the real issues and do what’s best for the country.
