“Marko the Magician” (aka Mark Gagnon) kept a full house at the Caribou Performing Arts Center intrigued by his slight-of-hand as well as laughing at his running commentary during his performances last week.
The master magician, a native of Caribou, was brought to the area by the Caribou Fire Department. Throughout the magic show, children were selected from the audience, eagerly willing to assist with the magic tricks. Some faces were filled with excitement from being on the stage, others acted a bit shy, then others were a bit of skeptic, but the end result was always the same, laughter and amazement.
The second half of the magical evening event dealt with the awe of hypnotism. Again, with eager participants, this time adult members of the audience took a seat on stage and let themselves be controlled by the power of suggestion.
Those choosing to be hypnotized danced, looked for lost belly buttons and could suddenly speak the language of aliens. It was all in fun, never degrading or embarrassing and thoroughly funny.
As part of Caribou High School’s Project Graduation, raffle tickets were sold for a 50-50 drawing during the evening.
