Caribou’s 150th Celebration Committee has presented to the city a signed and numbered, limited edition John Holub print depicting Caribou Village in 1893.     Caribou Mayor Miles Williams and Caribou City Manager Steve Buck accepted the Holub print on behalf of the city from Bob Mockler, Caribou Sesquicentennial Committee member. Additional prints are for sale as part of the fund-raising effort for Caribou’s upcoming 150th birthday celebration.
“This beautiful, historic print makes a stunning addition to any home or office,” noted members of the committee. They are available in three sizes — 36-inches by 48-inches; 24-inches by 36-inches and 18-inches by 24-inches. To purchase a Holub print, go to www.celebratecaribou.com or contact the Caribou Chamber of Commerce and Industry office in downtown Caribou.
In addition to the prints, the committee has commissioned several other commemorative items for sale, assisting in raising funds for the celebration. County Quikstop, Freme’s Jewelry, Paradis Shop and Save and Sleepers all have agricultural and historical calendars, coffee mugs, T-shirts, sweatshirts and hats featuring the 150th celebration logos at attractive prices, perfect to give as holiday or birthday gifts.
The 150th committee met this week to organize a small group which will seek sponsors for this once in a lifetime event. There are five levels of sponsorship with each sponsor being recognized on the Web site, in the events booklet, in the History Book and at all 150th Celebration Committee sponsored events.
Committee members welcomes organizations to sponsor events and volunteers to help during the nine-month-long celebration of Caribou’s 150th birthday. They are also putting a call out for old interesting photos, films and stories relating to Caribou’s history, high school sports, Caribou fire and police departments and any other important events.
The committee is also trying to develop some ideas on how to present this history to Caribou’s citizens.
Sesqui-celebrate by getting involved in Caribou’s 150th birthday.
