cashion, ok – Charles W. Herman, 82, of Cashion, OK, died on Tuesday, December 2, 2008, in Oklahoma City, OK. Graveside memorial services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, December 5, 2008, at Cashion Cemetery with Reverend Jerry Hudson of Odyssey Hospice officiating. Services were under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie, OK. Chuck was born on March 10, 1926, in Phillipsburg, NJ, to George Adam Sr. and Mary Ethel Herman.
He graduated from Edison Tech High School in Rochester, NY. Chuck was a lifetime member of the Reformation Lutheran Church of Rochester, NY. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during WWII and served in the 24th Quarter Master Co. Chuck worked for Eastman Kodak Co. for 34 years. He was a life member of Kodak Park Pioneer’s Club and Kodak Camera Club. He owned and flew single and multi-engine aircraft. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #320 in Honeoye Falls, NY and served as president of the Masonic Fellowship Club. Chuck was a volunteer firefighter in Honeoye Falls, NY and a member of the American Legion Post #664 for 49 years. He enjoyed fishing, flying, traveling in his RV, boating and life in general. Chuck and Betty celebrated 60 years of marriage on March 12, 2008.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Herman of the home ; six children, Virginia Davenport and husband Fred of Wakefield, KS, Charleen Short and husband Wesley of Cashion, Jane Dow and husband Jerry of Perham, ME, Carol James and husband Gerry of Presque Isle, ME, William Herman of Cashion, and Donald Herman and wife Elizabeth of Cashion; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Virginia Gagliano of Rochester, NY.
