LUNAR CHAPTER 126, Order of the Eastern Star, recently made a donation to the United Way of Aroostook for their “Keep the County Warm” project. “Keep the County Warm” is dedicated to keeping northern Maine homes warm by raising money for energy assistance.
Grants from the Keep the County Warm Fund are awarded to pay for home energy costs, no matter what type of fuel is used – propane, kerosene, wood, electricity or fuel oil. The grant money will be made available to and distributed by those organizations that offer emergency heating assistance in the region. The money donated by the Lunar Chapter 126 was raised by holding a pound auction at their last meeting. Presenting the check are, from left: Charlene Buzza, secretary; Gretchen Brissette, Past Grand Matron of Maine and Worthy Matron on Lunar Chapter; Claudia Stevens, executive director of the United Way; Leighton Perkins, Past Grand Patron of Maine and Worthy Patron of Lunar Chapter; Barbara Perkins, District Deputy Grand Matron of District 19; and Brenda Hall, Grand Electa.
