American Bankers Association taps Katahdin’s Prescott

     The American Bankers Association (ABA) has selected Jon J. Prescott, President & CEO of Katahdin Trust Company to serve on the ABA America’s Community Bankers Council.
    Composed of approximately 100 bankers from all 50 states, the Council meets twice a year to advise the Association on issues affecting the nation’s community banks and their customers. “This is an opportunity to let our voice be heard on national issues that also affect us locally,” Prescott said. “While we may come from many different communities, we share many common challenges.”
    Members of the Council are from financial institutions generally under $1 billion in assets and are appointed by the ABA chairman.
    Active in both community and industry organizations, Prescott currently serves as a director of Maine Mutual Group & Affiliates, Aroostook Partnership for Progress and Maine Bankers Association and a member of Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems, Board of Trustees Bankers Health Trust, and Board of Visitors for the University of Maine at Presque Isle. He is past Chairperson of the Maine Bankers Association and Aroostook Partnership for Progress and past President of the Independent Community Bankers Association of Maine. He has also served on the board of directors for Leaders Encouraging Aroostook Development and Southern Aroostook Development Corporation.
