OH THE WEATHER OUTSIDE IS FRIGHTFUL – While “Let It Snow” may be a charming Christmas carol, the reality of it hit Aroostook County hard on Monday, Dec. 22, with the first storm of winter – which officially began Dec. 21 – dumping 18 inches or more in and around Presque Isle.
The Nor’Easter caused a number of cancellations. As a result, police reported few accidents occurred due to the storm as drivers limited trips on the snow-covered roads. Shovels to snowblowers, plow trucks to bucket loaders could be spotted throughout the day as folks worked to clear driveways and parking lots. An additional 2-4 inches of snow was predicted between now and into Christmas, according to the National Weather Service Web site, www.noaa.gov. Police suggest travelers make plans accordingly and allow adequate time to reach your destination.
