Ag Museum kicks off 2009 with free membership supper

    The Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum will host their annual free membership supper on Saturday Jan. 17. With your 2009 paid dues you will receive your supper free. The menu on Saturday night includes; both turkey and beef pie, a variety of side dishes, rolls, desserts and beverages.
ImageMUSEUM SUPPER — Ag museum cooks will be dishing up another great home-cooked meal like they did for the retired medical staff last Fall. This Saturday, a supper will be served from 4:30 until 6 p.m. The meal is free with your 2009 paid membership or $8 per person. The Music Men will be providing musical entertainment during the evening.
    If you are not a member, the price is $8 for your meal. Membership fees per year are: single, $20; family, $30; sodbuster, $50; thresher, $100 or farmer of the year, $250. Lifetime memberships are also available, $500 for a single membership and $750 for a couple.
    Your membership entitles you to the January supper, four newsletters a year and free admittance to the museum. Supper begins at 4:30 p.m. and continues until 6.
    The Music Men of Houlton will be entertaining throughout the serving of supper. This group plays music from the 1940s and ‘50s and is a popular local group.
    The museum will be open at 2 p.m. for tours and during the supper. There are always new items being added to the displays, so enjoy a tour while you are there.

The projects include; finishing the siding and installation of new windows in the museum in the spring, building the addition onto the Ross School, cataloguing the museum inventory, being a summer tour guide, lawn mowing, picking up donated items, cooking for suppers and some computer work.
    The Museum is open on the days of the suppers or by appointment through the winter. The next scheduled supper will be Moosestompers weekend, Saturday, Feb. 7, followed by a Dessert Auction to benefit museum projects.
