BREWER—The Maine Games is announcing that registrations are now being accepted for their fifth annual State Power lifting Championships, to be held March 27 and 28, at the Brewer Auditorium, at 318 Wilson Street. Maine’s strongest men, women, and teens are expected to compete again this year. Over the past several events, many state records have been set at the Maine Games event, and this year should be no exception.
The Maine Games State Powerlifting Championships has consistently been one of the largest such events held each year in Maine, with up to 75 lifters, and as many as 500 spectators witnessing the competition.
The bench-press only competition will be held on the evening of Friday, March 27, and the full-meet, which includes squat, bench-press, and deadlift, is scheduled for Saturday, March 28.
This meet is a drug-free competition, and random drug-testing will be conducted immediately following the event.
Medalists in this event qualify for the 2009 State Games of America powerlifting competition, held next summer in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
The Maine Games is a non-profit organization and a member of the National Congress of State Games, which is a collection of State Games organization from coast to coast.
