Caribou Middle School Students of the Month

   CARIBOU, Maine — The staff at the Caribou Middle School recently announced the names of students selected as Students of the Month for January.

Cory Michaud, a fifth-grade student from the ‘Brainiac’ team, was selected by his teachers, Mrs. Learnard, Mrs. Levasseur , Mrs. Ouellette and Mrs. Keaton.
The CMS teachers stated, “Cory is very conscientious and works diligently to attain his goals. He is an honor roll student and always seeks ways to improve. His outstanding attitude and gentle nature at school is admirable.”
Cory enjoys wrestling, riding four-wheelers/dirt bikes and playing with remote-controlled cars.

Chathu Karunasiri, a member of the fifth-grade ‘Sur’five’or’ team was selected as Student of the Month for January, by his teachers, Mr. Barnes, Mrs. Hebert and Mrs. Barnes.
“Chathu has demonstrated outstanding compassion for his peer,” commented his teachers, “He is a natural leader who is respected by his classmates for both his academic achievements and his charming personality. Chathu’s positive, upbeat attitude along with his dedication to his education makes him a very successful fifth-grader.”
Chathu is also a member of the Gifted and Talented program at the Caribou Middle School.

Makayla Bouchard, a sixth-grade student in the ‘WOW’s team was named Student of the Month for January by teachers Mrs. Duncan and Mrs. Holmes.
The team teachers said of Bouchard, “Makayla is the perfect definition of an outstanding student. That “farm-girl” work ethic transcends into all facets of her life. An honor roll student who defines tenacious work habits and using her study hall to play the flute, is certainly a tip of the Makayla iceberg.”
“Along with being a great student and Caribou Viking fan, she plays basketball and tennis in whatever spare time she has,” added her teachers. “That spare time becomes a challenge when she is reading the “Twilight” series of vampire books by Stephanie Meyer. Makayla absolutely loves to read and spend time with her family. Makala makes our days a whole not nicer and happier and we know that someday, we will be reading her name un the headlines of success.”

Emilee Susi is the Student of the Month for the ‘Six’ceeders’ team. Her teachers, Mrs. Bouchard, Mr. Pelletier and Mrs. Dionne  said, “Emilee is very conscientious about her schoolwork and outstanding team member of our team. She is involved with the Civil Rights Team and has participated in the state CRT trainings for two years.”
“Emilee was involved with cross-country during the past fall and plays soccer in the recreation program. She currently plays in the fifth-and sixth-grade league at the rec center and is also involved in the Caribou Middle School music program.

Jared Keaton, a seventh-grade student in the ‘Star Team’ was named as Student of the Month for January by his teachers, Mr. Thompson and Mrs. Rhinebolt.
His teachers describe him this way. “Jared is a hard working, kind and compassionate individual with a passion for baseball, wrestling and is a member of the Boy Scouts. He is a conscientious student who exemplifies the characteristics of a successful Caribou Middle Schooler.”
“His quiet presence in the classroom is seen as a strong asset to his teachers, he is well liked by his peers and gets along well with others,” they added, “Jared reflects the image of a CMS model student of the month in his actions and also in striving for his best. We wish to congratulate Jared for his fine efforts this year.”

Devin Cyr, a seventh-grade student in the ‘SWAT’ team, was named Student of the Month for January by teachers Ms. Richardson, Mrs. Curtis and Mr. Perreault.
“What really separates Devin from the pack,” said his teachers, “is his outstanding attitude and approach to school. He is a tremendous helper to all his classmates and regularly volunteers his time in the guidance office. He is an excellent school citizen with a great sense of humor. He brightens the days of many people here on the SWAT team and at CMS on a daily basis. His positive attitude is one that models for all the other students about how to handle each day with a determination as well as with a smile on your face.
Devin has been involved on the soccer and basketball teams so far this year. He is a member of the Student Organization for CMS and is also a high honor student and very involved with schoolwork and class discussions.

Mallorie Cyr, a student on the eighth-grade team was announced as January’s Student of the Month by her teachers Mrs. Dow, Mrs. Sleeper, Mr. Barnes, Mr. Fantasia and Mrs. Boma.
The CMS teachers say, “Mallorie is a very good student and participates in soccer and basketball at the middle school and is a dancer at the Maine Dance Academy. She is a homeroom representative and works hard with the student organization to help make improvements at school.”

Brendan Wood was selected by grade-eight teachers Mrs. Dow, Mrs. Sleeper, Mr. Barnes, Mrs. Fantasia and Mrs. Boma,
“Brendan excels academically and always goes out of his way to be helpful to both students and staff at Caribou Middle School,” said the five CMS instructors. He participates in basketball, wrestling and baseball at CMS and also in the Aroostook Football League.
