As many sit inside longing for a warm, sunny day, the students at Presque Isle High School are using all the snow and cold weather to create masterpieces.
During the annual Winter Carnival at PIHS, each class is assigned a mound of snow and has five days to complete a structure that is then judged and points are awarded to the winning class. In previous years, however, all the sculptures have been similar and adhering to one theme. With new ideas in mind, the student council set out to choose a new method of deciding the theme. Each class was given the task of choosing any theme they wanted. The catch? The winner of the snow sculptures will determine the overall theme for the Winter Carnival which begins after February vacation.
As all four classes are hard at work out in the cold, come take a drive in your nice, warm vehicles to admire the beauty of a northern Maine winter.
