    HOULTON – John Douglas Russell, 79, died at a Houlton hospital, February 13, 2009. He was born November 12, 1929, in Rumford, ME, son of George F. and Ressie (Wetmore) Russell.
    John attended Houlton schools, the Bentley School of Accounting & Finance, Boston, and graduated from Ricker College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. John served in the US Air Force at bases in Texas, Oklahoma, Newfoundland, and California. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant at Long Beach, CA.
    He is survived by daughters, Lynn Babineau and her husband, Skip, of Easton, and Diane Allen and her husband, George, of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; brothers, George Russell of Houlton, and Paul and his wife, Patricia, of West Allis, WI. Sisters surviving are Frances Way and her husband, Robert, of Moore Haven, FL, Carol Lambert of Hodgdon, Nancy Hutchinson and her husband, Carl, of Monticello, and Susan Couch of Bristol, CT, and granddaughter Ariana Babineau of Easton, and several nieces and nephews.
    A springtime burial service will be announced at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Cary Library, Houlton, or to the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are by the Bowers Funeral Home of Houlton.
