To the editor:
The Caribou and Presque Isle Sesquicentennial Committees would like to invite you to an evening of Irish food and festivities, to help celebrate 2009 as our communities’ 150th anniversaries. On Friday, Feb. 27, an authentic, traditional Irish dinner will be served at Caribou High School. Tickets are limited and should be purchased in advance at the Aroostook Centre Mall, Caribou Chamber of Commerce and Industry, or Caribou One Stop. Dinner tickets are $7.     Following dinner, an evening of Celtic entertainment will take place at the Caribou Performing Arts Center, in conjunction with the Caribou Council for the Arts. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door. Come enjoy an evening of great fun and food!
Also, on Saturday, Feb. 28, the inaugural Downtown Ski Dash for the Cash will be held in the Downtown Mall/Lyndon Square area of Caribou, beginning at 10 a.m. This event is sponsored by the Maine Winter Sports Center and the Northern Skiers Ski Club. There will be a number of food and commemorative items available for viewers, and the event promises to be an exciting day of competitive ski races for all age groups. A bonfire will wrap up the day’s events, and we invite you to come watch a unique event for the County.
Further information is available at the Caribou Sesquicentennial Committee’s Web site, www.celebratecaribou.com. We hope to see you at an event!
