I have some exciting news to share with you! I have scheduled a very special Veteran’s Informational Workshop for all area Veterans. This workshop will be held during the evening of Tuesday, March 3rd at 6 p.m. at the Ashland VFW Post 9699. It was originally conceived for the Veterans who have been laid off from the local area lumber mills. Thing is, the information that will be presented at this meeting is just too important to every Veteran out there to limit attendance, so I am opening the workshop to all area Veterans. Our keynote speaker will be Jim Doherty from the Togus VA. All other presenters live and work right here in the great county of Aroostook. The Veteran Service Officer; the Veterans Counseling Center; the VA Medical Clinic at Cary Medical Center; the Maine Veterans Home and myself, your Aroostook veterans’ representative and CareerCenter consultant will provide Veterans with a comprehensive overview of their agency and the services offered to you – the Veteran. It’s critical that area Veterans know of their entitlements. This workshop is the vehicle to make that happen.
Because this event is so important, everyone is highly encouraged to bring a guest with them; spouse, significant other, friend. That would be a good thing to do especially if you’re anything like me where I would simply take in the information presented and call it good. Of course after I get home, I would find out (from my wife) that I should have asked this question or that question or that I should have had this whole list of other questions that I know now are important, but typical me, would never think to ask.
I think we all basically hear pretty much what we want to hear, so if you bring someone with you, you’ll walk away with much more information than if you had attended alone.
This event will be well attended so please call the Presque Isle CareerCenter at 1-800-635-0357 or 760-6300 to reserve your seat today! Be sure to let us know how many guests will accompany you. It’s not often that we are able to have so many Veteran’s agencies available to speak to you at one time at one place so please take advantage of this tremendous opportunity!
