Paul Suitter of Oakfield was named to the dean’s list at Bates College as a result of his scholastic standing during the fall semester of the 2008-2009 academic year.
Suitter, a political science major, is a 2005 graduate of Southern Aroostook. He is the son of Heidi Pratt of Oakfield and Tim Suitter of Houlton.
His undergraduate activities include president of the Democrats and student body president. Suitter is currently writing his honors thesis in political science on the effects of term limits on the Maine legislature. He also studied in Austria in the fall of 2006.
Suitter plans to teach in the Boston area starting in the fall of 2009.
Taylor Jo Quint was inducted into the Alpha Chi Nu Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Southern Maine Community College on March 8.
Quint, majoring in Health Related Professions, is the daughter of Olin and Tracey Quint of Hodgdon.
Established in 1918 by two-year college presidents, Phi Theta Kappa is the oldest and most prestigious honor society serving two-year colleges around the world. The Society serves to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students and provide opportunities for individual growth and development through honors, leadership and service programming. Students must rank in the top 20 percent of the class to be invited to membership in Phi Theta Kappa and must maintain high academic standing during their enrollment in the two-year college.
