To the editor:
I read today that SAD 1 is looking into putting a windmill up. What are they thinking! They say they have researched it. Like a coin, there are two sides to the story. I hope they’ve looked at both sides. My niece just did a research paper at her school about the ill effects of living near windmills. The city should read her information. Her teacher was pro-wind and she wondered about her doing this as a report; but when my niece finished her report, the teacher changed her mind. My niece got a 98 for the report. If the city would like a copy of it, I would be glad to send it to them.
I live 1,200 feet from the so-called “wind farm” in Mars Hill. As I sit here in my den, I can hear them! I wonder how the noise would affect the daily teachings in a classroom. Has the school even considered the flicker effect?
Also make sure that your television signal is not going to be affected. Since the television stations have gone digital, I have not been able to watch my local programs. When the blades are turning, the television is constantly flickering.
Oh well, what do I know? I just live next door to them. I chuckle to myself when people say we are “troublemakers” and don’t know what we are talking about. Just wait and see when UMPI gets their windmill up and going, then people will realize what we’re going through.
