After dinner     Bob Locke led us in the Lord’s Prayer and the flag salute. The secretary’s report was read and accepted. Locke gave the treasurer’s report which was also accepted.

Happy Losers
By Shirley Sides
On March 18th the Happy Losers had their meeting at the Congregational Church in the vestry. We always open the meeting with our pledge and roll call. We had eleven ladies weigh-in and stay for our meeting.
Glad Corneil and Loretta Bouchard were the losers of the week, and Winnie Desmond was runner-up. Great job ladies!
Report by the secretary was given for the week. Our treasurer was ill with the flu. We hope she is getting well. Our leader Jackie Pratt led the program for the week. We had a seven question quiz, and we were amazed by the answers. Meeting was great as usual.
Please feel  welcome to our group every Wednesday, 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 weigh-ins. The meeting starts at 9 a.m. Call 365-4884 for more information.

Patten Woman’s Club
By Doris DeRespino
The Patten Woman’s Club met last Tuesday at Veteran’s Memorial Library.  Sheri Skinner gave a presentation about getting the most use out of your digital camera.  She has taken and sells beautiful pictures of nature and wildlife.  The next meeting is at President Jutta Beyer’s on Tuesday, April 14. We will be bringing in donations for the Women’s Shelter in Houlton.  All are welcome to join us.

Ricker Rumblings
By Lois Downing
Here it is Sunday again. The weather has calmed down a lot since an hour ago. It has been like a ‘whiteout’ today with the storm. Snowstorm, that is. Can you believe how hard it was snowing again? It was a light snow though and hasn’t piled up on us.
Doris Hogan is better and is home after a sick spell and a few days at the local hospital. Glad you are better, Doris. She is not to be confused with Marion Hogan, a patient at this time at Houlton Regional Hospital.
On Thursday, we had Lt. Daniel Pelletier of the Houlton Police Department and E.G. Norton, a member of the Houlton Fire Department and I think an EMT. They presented a progam on the Triad system and crime prevention.
Lt. Pelletier spoke to us about safety. He advised us to keep our doors locked and your car, too. Keep your blinds closed at night; cover any valuables in your vehicles; don’t pick up hitchhikers; always look in the backseat to check things out; if you are on a back street or road and your car breaks down, raise the hood or if you can’t do that, open your trunk to alert help.
Mr. Norton talked to us about things in our home and fire hazards. The fire department will come and check your apartment for fire hazards if you call them and make an appointment. Some of us already signed up for this assistance. We will have another program, so please look for the date.
We thank the police department and the fire department for their program. Some would say, “I don’t need to go,” but I figure I can always learn something and that is what I did. Thank you very much.
We are halfway through the Lenten season this Sunday. Easter is soon in April.
The Bible quote today is: “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3)
Have a wonderful week.
