February 16 was Abraham Lincoln’s Bi-Centennial birthday. The CHS librarians held contests and activities for the students to participate. Some of the activities were Breakfast with Lincoln, where Ms. Finlay and Ms. Rand wore a Lincoln hat and beard and served breakfast of danish, muffins, hot chocolate, and biscotti among other things.

There was a guess how many pennies in the jar contest. The winner was Kevin Godin, who guessed 30,050 only 36 away from the actual amount of 30,086.

Students visiting the library during study hall could build houses with Lincoln logs. The biggest tower was over 50 blocks high. Last thing that the students helped with was the “Give a Lincoln for Lincoln” event, which raises money to support the restoration of all the Lincoln monuments around the country, so far more than $30 has been raised.

This lincoln log construction seems to need a little support as it “towers”a bit to the left.
