Are you creative? Do you like to solve problems? Do you like participating on a team? Then Destination Imagination is for you. Recently Teague Park and Hilltop schools in Caribou participated in the Destination Imagination program. This is the first time in over 10 years that Caribou has had a Destination Imagination team. DI, as it is called, offers kids a chance to try out and participate on a creative thinking team.

Members of the Destination Imagination team include: Gabriel Rand, Riley McNeal, Joshua Cummings, Jordan Theriault, Jacob Ouellette, Katie Tardif and Brennan Poitras.
The students at Hilltop took place in the Rising Stars program. The team members included: Gabriel Rand, Riley McNeal, Joshua Cummings, Jordan Theriault, Jacob Ouellette, Katie Tardif and Brennan Poitras. Their coach was Mrs. Jennifer Rand. Their challenge was called “Hidden”. They had to decide what they were and where they were hiding.
The second-graders chose to be hamsters trapped in a cage that wanted to escape. They wrote a skit about how to solve their problem. They attended the regional competition in Bangor on March 7 at Husson College. Rising Stars are not judged at competition, but they all received a medal for their participation.
The Teague Park team members were: Jill Courchene, Lochlan DuVal, Bryce Coffin, Josiah Krul, Connor Plourde, Kerrigan Manter and Samantha Fortin. Their coach was Mrs. Trina Coffin. The team’s challenge was Instinct Messaging.
They had to pick a creature and show ways that it communicated with other creatures in the wild. They wrote a skit about a chameleon that changes colors to communicate. They also created original music and lyrics to go with the skit. Both teams practiced very hard before the competition. They had to do instant challenges at the competition that they could not prepare for.
At the regional celebration the Teague Park team placed second out of 10 teams. The top three teams advance to the state finals in Orono. On April 4, the Teague Park team will go to Orono to compete with teams from all over the state.
Congratulations to both teams! Good luck to the Teague Park team at state finals.
