UMPI — First wind powered campus

 

    Wind is a powerful reusable resource. Can you imagine an entire college being powered by it? The University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) is going to be the first entirely wind-powered campus.    Anyone who has ever been in northern Maine knows about the Mars Hill Wind Farm. Plenty of wind blows in the area, making it perfect for a new wind farm. Pieces for the first windmill are already arriving, and more are expected to come. This could save many dollars for electricity being used on the campus. Though this project may take many months, it will be worth it!
